On April 26, the LGBT Life Center (formerly known as ACCESS AIDS Care) will join cities across the country for the 15th annual Dining Out For Life event. More than 3,000 restaurants nationwide will donate a portion of their proceeds that night, and each year diners have an opportunity to support a great cause while enjoying lunch or dinner with family and friends.
The LGBT Life Center has a 30-year legacy in Hampton Roads, with a mission to serve people and their families that have been impacted by HIV/AIDS, and is committed to making the local community as healthy and strong as possible.
Local patrons have a vast array of cuisines and locations to choose from in the area; establishments such as Streats in Norfolk, Mannino’s Italian Bistro in Old Towne Portsmouth, and The Point in Phoebus are just a few of the restaurants throughout Hampton Roads that have signed on to help make a difference in the seven cities.
Chef Josh Gregory of Supper Southern Morsels and The Public House, two of the participating restaurants in Norfolk said, “as members of the community, it is important to give back…it’s a great way to bring people together for a common need.”
Supper Southern Morsels will feature Shrimp and Grits, made with coffee from Three Ships Coffee Roasters in Virginia Beach and stone ground Virginia grits, while The Public House’s customizable “Lucille” smash burger is just one of the dishes that will be available that night.
Proceeds raised that evening will help the LGBT Life Center continue its efforts to provide prevention education and outreach for men, women and youth at risk for HIV/AIDS, and well as providing supportive services. So make sure to leave your belt at home and eat up on April 26th for Dining Out For Life.
