Gathering the Gourmands Part 4- Rich’s Reach
A simple conversation about food blogs in Hampton Roads a couple of years ago was the impetus for one of the most popular regional social media feeds. After that discussion, InsideVirginia was born, and Richard George has helped to create a popular following that totals more than 14,000 on Instagram.
George, who grew up in Richmond, graduated from Old Dominion University in May 2019, and earlier this year was contacted by the FOX show, “Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back” to be a guest food blogger on the show to critique the transformation of Lowery’s Seafood Restaurant in Tappahannock, Virginia.

He has worked with many restaurants in the region, including The Bee and the Biscuit, Taste of Asia, and Greenhouse Kitchen. In addition to his impeccable photos from a variety of restaurants, he works with Bob Roberts at Redwood Smoke Shack to help create social media posts that encourage new diners to visit and keep current patrons engaged to create repeat customers.
The InsideVirginia platform is strongly made up of a younger audience, which is essential to ushering a new audience to the ever changing and expanding Hampton Roads’ restaurant scene.
